Spectra — July 2026

Spectra

We are releasing a series of robust updates to enhance the actionability of risk analysis, clarify portfolio insights, accelerate workflows, and improve the quality of your outputs.

Now live

Global Wildfire: global improvement

As part of our commitment to delivering best-in-class, transparent data, we have rebuilt our wildfire model from the ground up. We have introduced a high-resolution (30m), globally consistent hazard signal that ranks risk comparably across all regions Spectra covers, and stands up to cross-region portfolio views, internal risk governance and repeatable reporting.

This is an exciting step for the Spectra platform: a process-based, physically informed model that simulates ignition and fire spread, captures climate sensitivity, and uses stochastic simulation to produce a robust annual probability of burning, giving our customers a sharper, more defensible signal to power their decisions.

Your top 10 risk drivers at a glance

This feature enables you to spot where your risk is concentrated quickly. The new Top 10 At Risk Assets table surfaces your highest-risk assets directly in your portfolio view, ranked by AAL% damage with key financial metrics so you can prioritise and act fast.

You also get richer context across the platform, including Total Building Replacement Cost, AAL by Hazard, and asset characteristics surfaced more widely, giving you the clarity to focus on the assets that matter most.

Adapt: more granular time horizons

You can now view Adapt results across multiple time horizons at 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, or 15 years. Climate risk and adaptation benefits play out differently over time, so being able to compare across horizons makes it easier to evaluate near- and long-term outcomes, align your analysis to real planning cycles, and make clearer trade-off decisions.

External API: new endpoint to view unanalysed assets

When uploading very large portfolios via the API, it can be hard to identify which assets failed to upload and why. This new API endpoint lets you retrieve a list of all dropped (unanalysed) assets, with a clear reason for each one (for example: missing region or missing floor count). This makes it faster and easier to pinpoint failures, fix source data, and rerun analysis with confidence.

Subterranean building clean-up

We have reviewed our building database and removed a small number of subterranean buildings. If any of your assets previously matched to these buildings, they have been corrected and rematched to the nearest above-ground asset.

Coming up on 9 July

Action required: new hazard available, Hail

We are expanding our existing hazard coverage and adding Hail.

What's changing

  • A new Hail hazard will be available in the platform hazard selector.
  • Hail outputs will populate across Spectra, including scoring/severity metrics and associated loss outputs where relevant.

Hail is a material driver of damage and disruption for many assets. Adding it into the same workflow as your other hazards means you can get more comprehensive views of risk and make better-informed resilience and investment decisions — all in the Spectra platform.

Materials to help you prepare

  • Updated Hail API documentation: the latest API documentation to help you adjust your internal processes ahead of the change.
  • Updated Hail data dictionary file: the latest data dictionary file, which details the upcoming output file structure and defines its contents.

Adapt: updated cost methodology (more credible CAPEX)

We're updating how Adapt calculates implementation CAPEX for Climate X recommended adaptation measures, with enhanced base cost calculations and more robust data sourcing. These updates make CAPEX figures — and therefore ROI and payback calculations — more defensible, more transparent, and easier to explain to customers and stakeholders, giving teams greater confidence when Adapt outputs are used to support investment cases.

Buildings update: South Korea and China

Updated building data coverage for South Korea and China. We are continuing to enrich our buildings coverage in key geographies to ensure accurate risk assessments. In July we will be expanding coverage in China and South Korea by adding a new data source to increase our breadth of coverage, and subsequent portfolio loss accuracy.

Coastal flood sensitivity

We are deploying a fix for an issue affecting coastal flood risk estimates for a small number of properties, where annual average losses were being underestimated due to an incorrect assumption in how high-frequency, low-severity events were modelled. This has now been fixed, and impacted properties will see more accurate, and in some cases higher, loss estimates.

More accurate portfolio Average Annual Loss % calculation

We are improving how Portfolio Average Annual Loss percentage (AAL%) is calculated in Spectra, so it is more intuitive, better reflects true portfolio-level risk, and aligns with standard industry practice.

The previous calculation averaged each asset's individual AAL%. The new calculation is total portfolio AAL ÷ total portfolio BRC (Building Replacement Cost). This gives you consistent numbers across the platform, and a clearer, more reliable measure of risk across portfolios of any size or asset mix. Your underlying risk data and asset-level results are unchanged. This update refines how that data is rolled up into a portfolio-level score.

Coming up later

Tailored Adaptations: adjust adaptation height and cost

Override default cost assumptions across all Climate X adaptations and set height parameters for flood adaptations with your own project-specific figures — whether that's a real-world quote, a contractor estimate, or site-specific data. Our Adapt calculations will reflect real-world assumptions, support stronger business cases, and give stakeholders the confidence to make informed investment decisions.

Adapt: faster, more flexible adaptation modelling

Bulk actions in portfolio Adapt let you model intervention strategies with greater speed and precision. The improvements are:

  • Bulk apply pre-existing adaptations: declare adaptations already in place across your entire portfolio in one go, so our modelling accurately reflects your current state at scale.
  • Selectively apply Climate X adaptations: filter and sort your assets, then apply adaptations from our library only to the assets you choose, giving you finer control to model realistic, targeted intervention strategies across your portfolio.

Enhanced reliability metrics

In addition to our physical hazard model reliability metrics, we will be introducing loss model reliability metrics for all perils. This will give users increased transparency and confidence when assessing financial impacts to their assets.

As part of this change we will also be removing our climate reliability metrics.

Asset Type, Tags, BRC and AAL% in your Asset List

We are adding four new columns to the Asset List: Asset Type, Tags, BRC, AAL and AAL%, so your key risk metrics are visible at a glance, without needing to open each asset individually.

BRC, AAL and AAL% side by side let you compare assets' value and risk exposure instantly. Scanning AAL% surfaces your highest-risk assets right away, and Asset Type and Tags add the context to show why they're exposed. Together, they turn your Asset List into a working risk overview, from "here are all my assets" to "here's where the risk is, and what to look at next." Sorting and filtering on these columns is coming soon, so you'll be able to rank and narrow your Asset List by risk, value, or type even faster.
