Spectra — September 2026
New enhancements that have recently launched in Spectra, along with what to expect over the coming months.
What's live now
Self-serve organisation management
Admin users can now invite, remove, and assign roles for their own team members, track and revoke pending invites, and rename their organisation — all directly within Spectra.
Filter your Asset List and Project Summary
Get stakeholder-ready views in seconds instead of exporting and filtering manually, then export the filtered result as CSV or PDF or share it via a link.
Slice your portfolio down to exactly what you need — narrow by Asset Type, Asset Use, Country, Tags, AAL, AAL% or BRC to focus on the region, asset class, or risk band that matters for the conversation at hand.
Coming on 17 September
A reminder of the items in the 17 September release, as notified in last month's release notes.
Polygons for UK buildings
We're introducing accurate, complex geometries for UK buildings, improving exposure and loss accuracy.
Until this point we have been using square boxes, centred around the latitude/longitude of the asset and scaled to premise area, to proxy building exposure. This change will create a large scale change to this, adding in nuanced geometries and therefore different exposures and losses.
Global building data update
We are consolidating large quantities of our building data globally to provide a more comprehensive filling of vulnerability fields, improving coverage and building-attribute completeness. We're also updating all countries' data to capture the latest changes.
As a result, a combination of data sources (rather than just the most highly ranked source for a given country) will be used, in a cascading hierarchy, to ensure as much building information is available for improved analysis.
Addition of "Loss Reliability" columns
We're adding a new 1–5 reliability scale for each relevant hazard's loss model, giving customers better transparency into confidence in loss metrics.
We will also be deprecating climate reliability, with the climate model being considered in our updated hazard reliability metrics.

GBR wildfire wall-type fix
We're updating how we handle "BRICK-STONE-STUCCO" wall types for UK assets. This will cause a small decrease in wildfire loss values for a small selection of assets (UK only).
Full migration to the updated single asset API endpoint
All users will have to migrate to https://apis.climate-x.com/main/assets/v2/single-asset.
We'll deprecate the old single asset API endpoint. Once deprecated, users will not be able to access the old endpoint. For more information about this new endpoint version, see the API document in the Help Centre.
Coming on 8 October
Advance notice of what's landing next on 8 October.
New optional groundwater subsidence hazard and loss models (European preview)
Our subsidence model updates will begin in the October release. In the next update customers can elect to switch to our new European groundwater subsidence hazard and loss models.
The European groundwater subsidence hazard and loss models are a preview, with the rest of the world available in Q1 2027. This update will be elective and available from 8 October (please contact your CSM if you would like access).
This new groundwater subsidence hazard model uses direct ground motion data from satellite measurements together with machine learning to derive a rate of downward motion across Europe. Groundwater loss is the dominant cause of severe subsidence worldwide from both human behaviour and climate change. This model also shows subsidence due to degradation of peat bogs and melting permafrost in areas that are vulnerable to these phenomena.
Full methodology on the European groundwater subsidence hazard and loss models will be available before their release.
Landslide model updates
We are updating our landslide model to better assess risk near rivers and coastlines and suppress false positives on slopes under 10° in all regions. It also includes a new sensitive clay overlay for Fennoscandia (Norway, Sweden, Finland).
This update will be live from 8 October.
What else is coming (not bundled)
These updates are not part of the next two bundled releases (17 September and 8 October) but will go live between now and early October.
Custom risk score thresholds
Get ratings that match how your organisation already defines risk, so you can act on Spectra's output directly instead of re-mapping our scores to your own framework.
Set your own thresholds for Spectra's asset risk score at an organisation level, so ratings reflect your own risk appetite or materiality policy rather than Climate X's default thresholds — with the option to reset to default at any time.
Continued global expansion
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing global coverage, additional geographic expansion continues with the following countries being added this quarter: Argentina (ARG), Chile (CHL), Dominican Republic (DOM), Paraguay (PRY), Uruguay (URY) and Zambia (ZMB), increasing coverage to 95% of global GDP.
Exposing damage curves
A new per-hazard graph will show how physical damage increases as hazard severity rises for an asset, based on its exposure and vulnerability. This view can be used to understand how severity at different return periods translates into expected damage. You will be able to find this by selecting a hazard in the Hazard Analysis section of the Asset Risk Summary view.
Coming soon
Corporate climate risk screening in Spectra
You will soon be able to analyse corporate climate risk directly within Spectra. This includes receiving detailed asset mapping results and climate risk results across an entire corporate's physical footprint.
This gives banking, credit risk and private equity teams a faster way to move from a company name to a decision-ready view of climate risk, completely self-served without support from Climate X teams.
Feedback
All our fixes and updates are possible thanks to your feedback and collaboration. Keep it going, we're committed to making the platform better for you.
If you'd like to help shape future updates, we welcome your input through our Customer Advisory and User Groups, or send feedback to [email protected]. Questions about how these features fit your workflow? Reach out to your account manager.
